What is the VAYU project?

Why is monitoring indoor air quality important?
Most people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, where concentrations of pollutants can be 2 to 5 times higher than typical outdoor levels. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), indoor air pollution was responsible for an estimated 3.2 million deaths in 2020. Monitoring helps identify invisible threats like PM2.5, TVOCs, and CO2 that impact health and cognitive function.
What is the Flux device?
The Flux is an innovative device that combines a high-capacity power bank with state-of-the-art air quality sensors. It is designed to be a seamless part of your daily life—charging your phone while silently monitoring your environment.
What specifically does the Flux device measure?
The device is equipped with high-precision sensors to track three key air quality indicators:
PM2.5: Fine particulate matter that can penetrate deep into the lungs.
TVOC: Total Volatile Organic Compounds from household products and materials.
eCO2: Equivalent Carbon Dioxide levels, which indicate ventilation quality and impact cognitive performance.
How does the data get from the device to me?
The Flux device connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It transmits real-time data packets to the VAYU mobile app, where you can view live measurements, historical trends, and receive smart alerts.
How is my privacy protected?
Privacy is a core pillar of the VAYU architecture. Personal information stay on your device. Data contributed to the global network is fully anonymized and hashed, ensuring that insights into air quality trends do not compromise individual user privacy.
What is the goal of the "Vayu Network"?
The goal is to create a decentralized physical infrastructure that provides hyper-local, real-time air quality data globally. This data helps homeowners protect their families, offices optimize ventilation for productivity, and researchers understand public health trends on an unprecedented scale.
